Minister Talaat emphasized that cybersecurity is a national, developmental, and societal priority, requiring collaborative efforts across all sectors. He highlighted the importance of data protection in the age of artificial intelligence and the potential threats posed by quantum computing. The minister called for increased vigilance and readiness at both local and regional levels.
Talaat detailed the government's strategies to enhance cybersecurity, mentioning the development of a five-year strategy by the Supreme Cybersecurity Council. This strategy focuses on public awareness, legislative and governance frameworks, resilient cyber defenses, investment in human capital through research and innovation, and regional and international cooperation.
He also stressed the importance of cultivating a skilled workforce in cybersecurity, pointing out a global shortage of more than 3.5 million professionals in the field. The ministry is addressing this through comprehensive capacity-building programmes aimed at students, graduates, and professionals in data-sensitive fields.
