Badawi Engages with Global Energy Leaders on Expanding Partnerships in Egypt

Abu dhabi: On the sidelines of his participation in the ADIPEC 2025 Conference and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a series of bilateral discussions with heads and leaders of global energy companies to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the field of natural gas exploration and production in Egypt, and expanding the application of modern technologies, digital solutions, and renewable energy solutions in production operations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during his meeting with Mr. Olivier Le Peuch, President of SLB (Schlumberger), they discussed the steps for preparing to implement the Advanced OBN seismic survey project in the Eastern Mediterranean in the coming period, which covers an area of 95,000 square kilometers.

In a discussion with Mr. Murray Auchenclous, President of BP, Engineer Karim Badawi expressed Egypt's appreciation for the long-standing partnership with BP, considering it an important strategic partner. Both sides affirmed their shared commitment to achieving sustainable growth for BP's portfolio in Egypt and supporting its plans to inject new investments into the country.

The Minister also met with Jeff Miller, CEO of Halliburton, a leading global provider of technical and technological solutions and services for oil and gas fields, as well as innovative solutions to enhance sustainable energy.

Additionally, the Minister met with Lorenzo Simonelli, CEO of Baker Hughes, a leading global provider of drilling technologies and solutions for oil and gas production fields, in addition to solutions for energy transition and carbon reduction. The meeting reviewed the outcomes of their recent meeting at the London Energy Conference, with the aim of expanding areas of cooperation. The Minister emphasized that the petroleum sector is working to maximize the use of modern technology in exploration and production operations from mature fields, a process facilitated by the solutions offered by Baker Hughes.

The meeting also included a follow-up on the progress of ongoing studies for cooperation between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Baker Hughes in the field of natural gas storage.

Further discussions were held with a high-level delegation from the Chinese company Huawei to enhance cooperation with the petroleum sector in the field of digital transformation, particularly the use of artificial intelligence and digital field management systems, cooperation in the field of data security and protection, providing solar energy solutions in petroleum facilities and sites, in addition to expanding the scope of engineering training programs in the petroleum sector.
