Cairo: The Ministers of Foreign Affairs from multiple nations have issued a joint statement condemning the recent visit by an Israeli official to the "Somaliland" region of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The statement highlights the visit as a breach of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, contravening international norms and the United Nations Charter.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the foreign ministers from countries including Egypt, Algeria, Bangladesh, Comoros, Djibouti, The Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Maldives, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey, Yemen, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, have expressed their collective disapproval of Israel's actions. They reiterated their rejection of Israel's recognition of Somaliland, initially voiced in a statement on December 27, 2025.
The ministers reaffirmed their support for Somalia's sovereignty and unity, emphasizing that secessionist agendas could escalate tensions within the region. The statement calls for adherence to international law and diplomatic norms to ensure regional and international stability.
