Cairo: Egypt expressed its appreciation for Lebanon's efforts to assert full state authority across its territories. In a statement Thursday, 8/1/2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the completion of the first phase of the plan to place weapons under state control south of the Litani River, describing the move as a clear demonstration of Lebanon's commitment to reinforcing state sovereignty and the role of its legitimate institutions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt stressed that the step represents a responsible national path aimed at safeguarding Lebanon's stability and unity, upholding the rule of law, and advancing the interests of the Lebanese people, while contributing to regional security.
The statement also highlighted the importance of full implementation of the November 27, 2024, ceasefire agreement by all parties, strict adherence to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and Egypt's firm rejection of any military escalation threatening Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity.
It further called for Israel's withdrawal from all Lebanese lands and an end to violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
