111th ‘Zad Al-Ezza’ Convoy Brings Vital Aid to Palestinians in Gaza Strip

Rafah: The 111th convoy of humanitarian aid trucks began entering the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, through the Rafah land port in North Sinai Governorate, heading toward the Karem Abu Salem Crossing in preparation for their entry into the Strip.According to State Information Service Egypt, a reliable source at the Rafah Border Crossing reported that the 'Zad Al-Ezza from Egypt to Gaza' convoy No. 111 includes thousands of tons of food and humanitarian aid, medical supplies and medicines, as well as petroleum products and shelter assistance. The entry of this aid comes after prolonged restrictions imposed by Israeli occupation forces, who have closed the crossings linking the Gaza Strip since March 2, 2025. This closure followed the end of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and subsequent failure to reach a new agreement to solidify the ceasefire.Israeli forces further violated the truce with airstrikes on March 18, 2025, and resumed ground incursions into various areas of the Ga za Strip. These actions included preventing the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced persons, along with refusing the entry of heavy equipment needed for rubble removal and reconstruction efforts. In May 2025, Israeli forces allowed limited quantities of aid to enter under a mechanism implemented in cooperation with a US security company. However, this mechanism did not meet the minimum needs of Gaza's population and was rejected by UN organizations, other relief agencies, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for violating established international mechanisms.Throughout the crisis, which began in October 2023, the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has been a national mechanism coordinating and dispatching aid to the Gaza Strip. Despite challenges, the Rafah Border Crossing has remained open, and the ERC continues its efforts to deliver aid through 35,000 volunteers.
