Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the Sudanese people as they navigate a critical period, focusing on regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability. Meeting with Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, Sisi stressed Egypt's commitment to Sudan's unity, sovereignty, security, and stability, expressing Cairo's readiness to make every effort in this regard.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shenawy highlighted that the official reception featured a guard of honor and the playing of national anthems, followed by a commemorative photo. The engagement included an expanded round of talks involving delegations from both sides, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations to reflect the aspirations for integration and mutual development between the two nations.
The discussions highlighted the importance of intensifying efforts to provide aid to Sudan amid harsh humanitarian conditions caused by ongoing conflict, emphasizing the necessity of holding accountable those responsible for crimes against the Sudanese people. The talks also addressed the latest field developments in Sudan.
Lt. Gen. Al Burhan expressed gratitude for Egypt's continued support, noting it underscores the deep brotherly relations between the countries. The presidential spokesman mentioned that regional developments in the Nile Basin and Horn of Africa were also discussed, with both parties agreeing on priorities related to national security and the importance of coordinated efforts to protect water security. They opposed unilateral actions in the Blue Nile Basin and stressed respecting international law to serve the interests of all Nile Basin countries.
The meeting concluded with a luncheon hosted by President Sisi in honor of the Sudanese guest.
