Cairo: President of Capital University Professor El-Sayed Kandil and Chairman of the Board of the State Information Service (SIS) Ambassador Alaa Youssef inaugurated a student seminar titled 'Youth and Awareness Building,' organized in collaboration with the Giza Media Center.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the seminar was attended by Dr. Walid El-Sorougy, Vice President of Capital University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Tamer Shams El-Din, Head of the SIS Internal Media Sector; alongside a large gathering of university students. Professor Kandil emphasized the importance of student awareness as a priority for the university, highlighting the role of students as partners in shaping the nation's future. He noted that the university aims to provide students with skills to differentiate facts from misinformation in a rapidly changing digital world.
Professor Kandil also mentioned that the seminar is part of ongoing efforts with SIS to boost youth awareness of national issues and help them navigate changes and challenges effectively. Ambassador Youssef added that true awareness involves understanding reality and challenges, stating that public awareness acts as a defense against misinformation and extremist ideologies.
He discussed the challenges faced in shaping youth awareness due to the spread of social media and information, warning about the dangers of modern warfare targeting public consciousness. Ambassador Youssef explained that building comprehensive awareness requires knowledge, understanding, national consciousness, and a sense of responsibility.
Ambassador Youssef highlighted the SIS's role in addressing misinformation from foreign media through monitoring and refuting inaccurate reports. He emphasized the importance of raising public awareness through SIS Internal Media Centers and organizing activities to enhance understanding of national issues.
The SIS also focuses on producing media materials in multiple languages to accurately portray Egypt's image and achievements. Ambassador Youssef encouraged youth to engage in continuous learning, develop critical-thinking skills, and use social media constructively to promote knowledge and community engagement.
The seminar concluded with an open dialogue between Ambassador Youssef and students, who expressed their interest in engaging discussions and understanding how to address evolving challenges effectively.
