Cairo: The Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to keep its key interest rates unchanged at its recent meeting. This decision reflects a cautious approach as the committee continues to evaluate inflation trends and the overall economic outlook.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the overnight deposit rate remains at 19 percent, while the overnight lending rate is steady at 20 percent. Additionally, the rate of the main operation and the discount rate have been maintained at 19.5 percent each. These rates have been held steady as the MPC assesses recent developments in inflation and the evolving economic landscape since its previous meeting.
The MPC's decision to leave monetary conditions unchanged underscores the central bank's focus on monitoring inflationary pressures and understanding their implications for the economy. The current stance allows the CBE to continue observing the economic indicators and respond appropriately in future meetings.
