Cairo: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed strategies aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in petroleum products during a meeting held at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting focused on encouraging investments in the refining sector and securing the necessary funding for these projects.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by key government figures, including Mr. Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank; Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation; Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; and Ms. Sherine El-Sharkawy, First Assistant to the Minister of Finance for Economic Affairs.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the meeting as a mechanism to foster self-sufficiency in petroleum products. He reiterated his full support for petrochemical refining projects, which play a crucial role in reducing the import bill for gasoline and diesel by promoting local production.
During the discussions, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi highlighted the ministry's focus on various strategic areas. These include fulfilling citizens' petroleum needs through enhanced production and exploration, optimizing resource use in refineries and petrochemical plants, advancing the mining sector, and boosting regional cooperation to attract investments. Additionally, the minister underscored the significance of creating an attractive investment climate while ensuring safety, energy efficiency, and emission reduction.
