Johannesburg: Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the 2025 G20 Summit, held a constructive meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Egypt and Vietnam.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by Dr Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Ambassador Ahmed Ali Sherif, Egypt's Ambassador to South Africa. Prime Minister Madbouly expressed a keen interest in developing relations across various sectors and acknowledged Vietnam's economic progress. He highlighted the contributions of Vietnamese companies like EUROPLAS Plastics and Song Hong, which are actively investing in Egypt, and mentioned potential investments by Vingroup in the electric vehicle sector.
Both leaders discussed the potential for a free trade agreement and the benefits of Egypt's strategic location, which could facilitate Vietnamese access to neighboring markets. The Vietnamese Prime Minister congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and emphasized the upgraded strategic partnership between the two nations.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister also addressed the need for simplifying visa procedures and establishing Vietnamese enterprises in Egypt. He underscored the opportunities for Vietnamese companies to leverage Egypt's free zones to enhance trade.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed the formation of a joint higher committee and enhanced private sector partnerships. He also expressed a desire for coordination in international and regional arenas.
