Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the Egyptian-Burkinabe Business Forum alongside Burkinabe Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, senior officials, and business representatives from both countries.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty said the forum reflects a keenness to translate political ties into joint projects, investments, and jobs, building on his July 2025 visit to Ouagadougou and its business forum to sustain direct communication between both business communities. He highlighted Egyptian expertise in key priority sectors for Burkina Faso, including infrastructure, construction, building materials, pharmaceuticals, food industries, fertilizers, agricultural machinery, energy, mining, and launching a direct flight route.Abdelatty noted the Egyptian government attaches high priority to direct links between trade chambers and companies, considering the private sect or the main driver of sustainable economic cooperation. He pointed to ongoing preparations to convene the biennial Alamein-Africa Forum on October 2-4 in New Alamein, serving as a continental platform to advance economic and investment partnerships. The foreign minister invited Burkinabe companies to actively take part in the forum, explore investment opportunities with Egyptian and African peers, and boost bilateral trade exchange.For his part, the Burkinabe foreign minister praised distinguished relations with Egypt, emphasizing his country's commitment to providing an enabling climate to attract Egyptian private sector investments. He looked forward to the forum fostering sustainable business partnerships, expanding bilateral trade, and matching the advanced level of political ties between the two nations.
