Nairobi: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Kenyan President William Ruto on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, reported that President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation to the Kenyan president for the hospitality shown during his visit. He highlighted the historical and strong relations between Egypt and Kenya and emphasized the importance of implementing the joint presidential declaration signed in January 2025 to elevate their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This partnership aims to enhance economic integration and capitalize on the significant potential and strategic resources of both nations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Ruto conveyed his gratitude for President El-Sisi’s participation in the summit and acknowledged the strategic ties between Kenya and Egypt. He praised Egypt’s support for development efforts in Kenya and the wider Nile Basin region. The focus of their meeting was on cooperation in water resources, with President El-Sisi reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to collaborating with Kenya and other Nile Basin countries to develop water resources, ensuring mutual benefit and water security for all involved nations.
The discussions also touched on regional issues, particularly the situation in Sudan. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized the need for international and regional efforts to restore stability and prevent further deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in Sudan. President Ruto expressed support for enhancing consultation among the Nile Basin countries to promote their people’s interests and strengthen economic ties.
President El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s vision for regional security and stability, advocating for focusing resources on development rather than conflicts. President Ruto appreciated this approach and confirmed Kenya’s commitment to working with Egypt to achieve peace and stability in Africa and the Middle East. The two leaders agreed to enhance consultation and joint coordination in the future.
