President El-Sisi Engages in Critical Dialogue with Iranian President

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Iranian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt's efforts in mediating dialogue between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He thanked President El-Sisi for facilitating discussions that led to an agreement signed in Cairo on September 9, 2025, which restored cooperation between Iran and the IAEA after months of Egyptian mediation. The Iranian leader acknowledged Egypt's pivotal role in promoting constructive dialogue.

President El-Sisi congratulated President Pezeshkian on the agreement with the IAEA, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to supporting efforts to de-escalate regional tensions. He emphasized the importance of engaging all parties involved in the Iranian nuclear issue in serious dialogue to reach a peaceful settlement that ensures regional security and prevents further escalation.

The discussion also covered regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip. Both presidents called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the humanitarian crisis in the region. They rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians and underscored that lasting stability can only be achieved through a two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international resolutions.

Additionally, they explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors to benefit both nations and enhance regional security and stability.
