PM Reviews Progress of First Phase Projects of Presidential Initiative ‘Decent Life’

New administrative capital: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the government's commitment to continuously monitoring the progress of the first phase of the presidential initiative 'Decent Life' (Hayah Karima).

According to State Information Service Egypt, this phase includes various development and service projects, he said, noting that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had issued directives to accelerate the completion of all first-phase projects and prepare to launch the second and third phases, despite the challenges and negative repercussions caused by the ongoing regional crisis.

These projects play a crucial and pivotal role in improving and upgrading the quality of services provided across different sectors for citizens in targeted rural villages, he pointed out. Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting at the government HQ in the New Administrative Capital to follow up on the progress realized so far in implementing the first phase of the presidential initiative to develop Egypt's rural villages, 'Decent Life,' as well as its financial status.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Randa el Menshawy, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, Presidential Advisor for the 'Decent Life' initiative Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid Hegazy, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities Ahmed Omran, representatives of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority and Engineering Authority, the Director of Dar Al-Handasah (project consultant), and officials from various ministries and concerned entities.

The official spokesperson for the Cabinet, Counselor Mohamed el Homosani, stated that the meeting reviewed updates on the implementation status of the first phase of the initiative. From March 10 until today, work has been completed in 20 villages, including 174 projects, with 148 projects delivered across different sectors. This brings the total number of completed villages to 722 out of 1,477 villages in this phase.

He added that the total number of completed projects under the first phase of the 'Decent Life' initiative has reached 22,776 projects so far. The spokesperson also noted that the meeting reviewed the financial status of the initiative, including allocated and available funding, as well as the required cash flows for the coming period to ensure the swift completion and operation of first-phase projects, maximizing the benefits of investments and expanding the number of beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Homosani highlighted that the meeting addressed several challenges facing the construction sector due to ongoing regional events, which have disrupted supply chains and driven up the prices of many materials. The meeting also reviewed the government's efforts to address these challenges through coordination among various state entities to ensure the continuation of economic and developmental activities, particularly those aimed at providing essential services to citizens.
