Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed the ministry's appreciation of its ongoing cooperation with the House of Representatives and its various committees, highlighting the importance the Egyptian state attaches to the African dimension as a key pillar of its foreign policy.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister's remarks came during a meeting held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, between Abdelatty and head of the house's African Affairs Committee Sherif El-Gabaly to discuss ways to enhance Egypt's presence in Africa and ensure coordination between the executive and legislative authorities in a manner that serves national interests.
The foreign minister underscored the need for strengthening communication with African parliaments through parliamentary friendship groups, and intensifying efforts to boost cooperation with African countries, particularly in the fields of economic and development cooperation.
He also underlined the need to promote trade exchange and investments, as well as to implement infrastructure, energy, and logistics corridor projects, in a way that supports regional integration and achieves sustainable development.
Abdelatty further highlighted the importance of expanding strategic partnerships with African countries and building on the momentum generated by visits of business leaders and investors to the continent, while enhancing the role of the private sector in supporting development efforts in Africa.
For his part, El-Gabaly expressed the committee's keenness to continue cooperation with the foreign ministry to support Egypt's foreign policy priorities in Africa and strengthen the country's leading role on the continent.
