Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reiterated on Thursday the State's commitment to uniting all efforts to develop Egypt's higher education and scientific research system. He emphasized the government's continuous work to expand and modernize educational institutions while enhancing academic and research performance in line with global quality standards, to improve the caliber of graduates and research output.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the premier made the remarks during a meeting with Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, and senior officials from both ministries to review several areas of joint cooperation. During the meeting, Ashour outlined key aspects of cooperation between the ministries of higher education and finance as regards support offered to Egyptian students studying abroad.
Talks also covered facilitating regular payments for Egyptian cultural office staff overseas by streamlining administrative procedures. The Minister also discussed proposed areas of cooperation aimed at enhancing the capacities and facilities of educational institutions. He noted that the number of universities in Egypt has increased from 50 in 2014 to nearly 135 in 2025, offering a diverse range of academic programs and advancing steadily in global university rankings.
