PM Inspects Project of Upgrading and Developing International Coastal Road

Beheira: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inspected work sites of a project to upgrade and develop the International Coastal Road during his visit to Beheira governorate, as part of the government's comprehensive plan-implemented by the Ministry of Transport-to develop and enhance the nationwide road network in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, upon arrival at the inspection point, Madbouly was received by Assistant Minister of Transport for Roads and Bridges Hossam el Din Moustafa, along with senior officials of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges. Madbouly was briefed on the project to upgrade the International Coastal Road, which extends from Port Said to Sallum over a total length of 800 km. The road serves as a key axis linking Egypt's Mediterranean seaports, including Port Said, Damietta, Alexandria, and Gargoub, and passes through seven governorates: Port Said, Damietta, Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Beheira, Alexandria, and Matrouh.

The road also connects several industrial zones in Port Said, New Damietta, Gamasa, and Motobas in Kafr El-Sheikh, in addition to supporting new urban communities such as New Damietta, New Mansoura, and New Rashid. Madbouly reviewed the implementation status of the section within Beheira Governorate, specifically the stretch extending from the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road intersection to the Cairo-Alexandria desert road intersection (Sector 7), with a total length of 13 km.

Madbouly was also briefed on ongoing works within the broader development plan of the road from Port Said to Sallum. This includes upgrading the section from Damietta (Furniture City) to Baltim, passing through Gamasa and New Mansoura, with a total length of 64 km, comprising 37 km within Damietta Governorate and 27 km within Dakahlia Governorate.
