NCW Chief Praises First Lady’s Support for Humanitarian Work

Cairo: President of the National Council for Women (NCW) and Board Member of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Amal Ammar, expressed her sincere appreciation to First Lady Entissar El Sisi, Honorary President of the Egyptian Red Crescent, for her continued support for humanitarian and relief efforts, as well as her efforts to promote solidarity and social cohesion. Ammar also praised the efforts to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, she made these remarks during the 'Volunteer Day' organized by the NCW in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent as part of the 'From Egyptian Women to Their Palestinian Sisters' initiative. The event was held within the framework of cooperation between the two sides to promote a culture of volunteer and humanitarian work, strengthen the values of solidarity and social cohesion, and support relief efforts for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Ammar also thanked Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity and Vice President of the Egyptian Red Crescent, in recognition of her efforts and role in supporting and advancing humanitarian and relief work. She stressed the importance of the NCW's participation in 'Volunteer Day,' describing it as an initiative aimed at promoting a culture of volunteer and humanitarian work and introducing NCW employees to the mission of the Egyptian Red Crescent and its role in responding to humanitarian and relief needs.

She explained that dedicating one day each month to volunteering comes as part of preparations to launch a humanitarian aid convoy bound for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, under a tripartite cooperation protocol between the NCW, the National Bank of Egypt, and the Egyptian Red Crescent, as part of the 'From Egyptian Women to Their Palestinian Sisters' initiative. Ammar emphasized that volunteering embodies the values of solidarity and unity and contributes to preparing an aware, trained generation capable of responding and providing support when needed.

For her part, Amal Imam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, expressed her appreciation for Ammar's participation, along with the NCW delegation, in 'Volunteer Day,' praising the NCW's efforts to promote a culture of volunteering and raise awareness of the Egyptian Red Crescent's mission within society. She noted that holding 'Volunteer Day' on a monthly basis aims to familiarize NCW employees with the Red Crescent's mission and its role in supporting humanitarian work.

On the sidelines of the event, Ammar and her accompanying delegation, accompanied by the Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, toured several departments and facilities at the Egyptian Red Crescent's headquarters, including the central operations room, where she was briefed on its round-the-clock operations. She also toured an exhibition of handicraft products.

The tour concluded with a visit to the humanitarian aid packing center, where the NCW delegation participated in packing and preparing humanitarian aid destined for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The event also featured a documentary highlighting the history and achievements of the Egyptian Red Crescent and its role in humanitarian and relief efforts, as well as its work supporting vulnerable groups and responding to humanitarian needs during crises and emergencies.
