Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced that the government is advancing with plans to incorporate the governorates of the second phase into the universal health insurance system. He emphasized that the implementation of this system is aimed at benefiting all Egyptians. This announcement was made during the weekly cabinet meeting held at the New Administrative Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli highlighted several recent events attended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi that conveyed crucial messages concerning the state's vision on various key issues. Among these events was President Sisi's attendance at the aptitude assessments for students aspiring to join the Military Academy. During this event, the President engaged in an interactive dialogue with the applicants on topics such as the economic situation, foreign-currency reserves, debt management, job creation, and the application of artificial intelligence, automation, and digitalization in state institutions.
Madbouli noted President Sisi's emphasis on Egypt's ambitious digital transformation plan and the integration of these advancements into education and curricula to modernize the system and align it with the labor market both domestically and internationally. He further mentioned the state's comprehensive development program focused on progress, reducing unemployment, and improving public health and physical fitness. The government is working intensively across all sectors, particularly in education and health, while accelerating national projects to enhance public services.
The Prime Minister also mentioned President Sisi's meeting with Algeria's prime minister and the CEO of Italy's Eni. He reiterated the President's keen interest in monitoring developments related to foreign oil and gas companies operating in Egypt, specifically their production and investment strategies. The meeting discussed Eni's plans to invest an additional $8 billion in Egypt over the coming five years, which was seen as positive news.
Madbouli highlighted the President's attention to the progress of the New Delta project and efforts to efficiently utilize water resources to bolster agricultural production. He noted the President's directives for regular updates on agricultural projects, particularly the New Delta scheme.
Discussing his activities for the week, Madbouli mentioned inaugurating the National Conference on Local Administration Reform and Empowerment. This conference reviewed the Local Development Program in Upper Egypt, which has successfully delivered development projects after years of limited investment. The lessons learned from this program will guide future efforts, with the state dedicated to continuing development initiatives in Upper Egypt.
Regarding healthcare, Madbouli reflected on his participation in the sixth annual forum of the General Authority for Healthcare, marking six years since the universal health insurance system's launch in Port Said. He also mentioned attending the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the seventh African Union-European Union Summit in Luanda, Angola. Madbouli stressed that Egypt's active engagement in Africa demonstrates the state's strategic approach to deepening cooperation with African nations and expanding collaborative efforts across various sectors.
