PM: GEM Inauguration Marks New Era for Egypt Tourism, Cultural Leadership

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, that the upcoming inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will mark a milestone in the country's cultural and tourism revival. Speaking during the weekly cabinet meeting at the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Madbouly described the event as 'a moment that showcases Egypt's civilization, creativity, and modern development.'

According to State Information Service Egypt, large public viewing screens will be set up across all governorates to allow citizens to follow the November 1 celebrations. Set to display more than 100,000 artefacts, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, the GEM is billed as the world's largest archaeological museum complex, adjacent to the Giza Pyramids.

Madbouly said the project represents decades of work and billions in investment aimed at connecting Egypt's ancient heritage with its modern renaissance. The Prime Minister also briefed ministers on the outcomes of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Brussels for the first Egypt-European Union (EU) Summit, which focused on boosting cooperation in investment, industry, energy, and sustainable development.

Madbouly said the summit reflected strong European interest in Egypt as a key regional partner and investment hub. He also reviewed his recent visit to Suez Governorate and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), where he inaugurated several industrial and development projects, reaffirming the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and the investment climate.

Madbouly concluded that Egypt's modern infrastructure has become a cornerstone of its competitiveness and sustainable growth strategy, a position repeatedly validated by global investors and financial institutions.
