Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat attended on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a business forum organized by the World Bank and partner institutions with the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors to strengthen cooperation on development projects and procurement readiness.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Mashat said the event creates a direct platform linking development finance, government priorities, and private sector execution capacity. She stressed that while Egypt has successfully mobilized diversified concessional financing, the key challenge now is efficient implementation, noting that delays in procurement processes delay services and investments.
The forum brought together representatives from major multilateral development banks to help contractors, consultants, and suppliers better understand updated procurement policies, avoid common bidding mistakes, and prepare for future tenders funded by development institutions.
The minister emphasized the private sector's role as a core development partner and highlighted the ministry's 'HAFEZ' platform, launched in 2023, which connects companies-especially SMEs and startups-to international financing, technical assistance, and over 2,500 development tenders in Egypt and more than 80 countries.
Al-Mashat also noted Egypt's goal to raise private sector participation in total investments to 72% by 2030 through regulatory reforms, expanded state exit from certain sectors, and support for industry, technology, and renewable energy.
