Islamabad: National Council for Women (NCW) President Amal Ammar discussed ways to strengthen cooperation with Palestinian Minister of Women's Affairs Mona Al Khalili on Monday, July 13, 2026. The discussions focused heavily on women's economic empowerment, alongside support for relief efforts targeting Palestinian families and women. Additionally, both sides looked into exchanging expertise regarding programs and initiatives that support women.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Conference on Women of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), currently taking place in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, under the theme: "Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Member States: Challenges and the Way Forward."
Ammar reaffirmed the NCW's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs and exchanging expertise and best practices in the fields of women's economic, social and political empowerment, as well as capacity building, to support Palestinian women and enhance their ability to confront challenges.
She reiterated Egypt's full solidarity with Palestinian women and expressed appreciation for their resilience as well as their pivotal role in preserving family and social cohesion despite the exceptional circumstances they face.
For her part, Khalili reviewed the Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs' efforts and its key programs to support Palestinian women. She outlined main challenges facing women under the current circumstances, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation with Egypt's National Council for Women to benefit from its accumulated expertise in economic and social empowerment, capacity building and the exchange of successful experiences to support Palestinian women and strengthen their resilience, reflecting the deep fraternal ties between the two peoples.
