Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stressed the government's strong focus on maintaining secure reserves of various strategic food commodities, while directing relevant ministers to continue regular field monitoring of markets in coordination with regulatory bodies to ensure the availability of goods for citizens in adequate quantities, with proper standards and fair prices, while firmly confronting any monopolistic practices.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli made the remarks during a government meeting he chaired on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, which reviewed the latest developments related to the ongoing regional crisis and the scenarios being followed by the government to address its potential repercussions.
The premier also referred to key points from Abdel Fattah El Sisi's speech during the annual military Iftar marking the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan War victory, outlining Egypt's position on the regional crisis and the main approaches for action in the coming period.
Madbouli further highlighted the outcomes of the meeting chaired by President El-Sisi to review work plans and alternative scenarios in the electricity and petroleum sectors to ensure adequate fuel supplies and maintain the stability and continuity of electricity generation.
He said coordination is ongoing with all relevant state bodies to secure electricity supplies and ensure the sustainability and stability of the national power grid, noting plans to integrate new renewable energy capacities of up to 2,500 megawatts into the network before next summer.
The prime minister emphasized that the government will implement the president's directives with priority given to securing strategic reserves of petroleum products to guarantee gas supplies for the electricity sector, whether for household consumption or productive sectors.
He added that the government is also working to provide the necessary funding for energy projects, take all required measures to settle dues of foreign companies operating in Egypt, intensify efforts to attract investment in the energy sector, and establish integrated infrastructure to receive liquefied natural gas imports and operate supply vessels.
Madbouli also underlined the importance of boosting domestic production and expanding exploration and production activities.
Meanwhile, the premier instructed ministers to enhance communication with parliament by attending general sessions and meetings of specialized committees, enriching discussions, ensuring alignment with the state's general policies, and responding to MPs' inquiries with transparency in a way that strengthens cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities.
