Cairo: Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad met on Tuesday with British Ambassador to Cairo Mark Bryson-Richardson to discuss ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in key labour-related areas. These discussions focused on vocational training, youth employment, women's workforce participation, and social protection programmes for workers.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Raddad emphasized the historical ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom and the ministry's commitment to collaborating with international partners to leverage best practices in developing vocational training systems. The meeting underscored the ministry's efforts in implementing the 'Training for Employment' strategy, which is designed to equip young Egyptians with in-demand skills both domestically and internationally.
The ministry's initiatives include modernising vocational training centres, launching new programmes in partnership with the private sector, and creating employment opportunities for youth. The discussions also addressed initiatives to economically empower women, increase their workforce participation, and implement social protection programmes for workers, especially in the informal sector, aiming to ensure safe working conditions and promote stability.
Minister Raddad highlighted that under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's leadership, Egypt emphasizes youth skill development in alignment with labour market needs. Both parties agreed on the importance of strengthening co-operation and leveraging British expertise in training programmes to support employment efforts and advance shared objectives in labour and economic development.
