Lyon: Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with French Health Minister St©phanie Rist on the sidelines of the 'One Health' Summit to strengthen bilateral cooperation in healthcare.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on preventive and curative care, reproductive health, and sharing expertise in universal health insurance and reducing surgical waiting lists. The ministers also addressed France's support in providing medical services to the injured in Gaza and reinforcing the health system there, emphasizing the importance of international coordination to ease the humanitarian crisis.
They reviewed joint projects, including the development of 35 primary healthcare units backed by the French Development Agency. The cooperation extended to medical education, nursing capacity building, and partnerships with leading French institutions.
The meeting also covered Egypt's proposals for the upcoming World Health Assembly, focusing on radiology and liver diseases. Opportunities in pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing, as well as advancing green transformation in healthcare, were explored.
The Health Ministry stated that the discussions reflect the depth of Egypt-France strategic ties and open broader prospects for strengthening Egypt's health system to better meet challenges and improve services for citizens.
