Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir conducted an inspection of three engineering industry factories in 10th of Ramadan City. This visit is part of the minister's ongoing efforts to assess production progress and address operational challenges within industrial zones.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister began his tour at Al-Ahram Group for Security Systems, a manufacturer specializing in locks, cylinders, hinges, and handles. The factory, which occupies 35,000 square meters, operates with a capital of EGP 1.5 billion and produces 10 million cylinders annually. The company, employing over 1,200 workers, exports to 27 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America, with a local content ratio of 100%.
During the visit, the minister was welcomed by Chairman Samir Aref and other executives. He toured the production lines, the quality laboratory, and the industrial wastewater treatment unit. Wazir emphasized the importance of industrial integration to boost productivity and reduce import dependency. He also highlighted the need for swift accreditation of the factory's laboratory to enhance product quality and facilitate exports.
Additionally, Wazir directed affiliated bodies to take legal action against fake or unlicensed industrial facilities, which harm the quality and reputation of Egyptian products.
The minister also inspected the Egypt Factory for Refrigeration Compressors and the Thermotech Water Heaters Factory, both part of Fresh Home Appliances. The compressor factory, covering 90,000 square meters with EGP 350 million investments, has a production capacity of 2.5 million compressors annually, with 70% local content. It exports 20% of its production to Turkey and provides 360 jobs.
The Thermotech facility, the sole Middle Eastern factory for heaters and thermostats, spans 3,300 square meters with EGP 100 million investments. It produces 4 million heaters and 2.6 million units of another product annually.
