Higher Education Minister Engages with JICA to Enhance Educational Collaboration

Cairo: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour convened with Yoko Mitsui, Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and her delegation to explore avenues for bolstering educational collaboration between Egypt and Japan.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ashour highlighted the historical ties in higher education and scientific research between the two nations, expressing optimism that this partnership would continue to drive innovation and sustainable development. He emphasized that the collaboration is a notable example of the value of international partnerships, particularly in education and research, and contributes significantly to the development of human resources in Egypt and Africa.

Ashour reiterated the ministry's commitment to expanding international partnerships that support the advancement of Egypt's educational and research systems. Mitsui acknowledged the progress in Egypt's higher education landscape and affirmed JICA's dedication to ongoing cooperation to enhance national capacity building.

The meeting reviewed the Egyptian-Japanese "Kosen" Institute's progress, noting achievements in student admissions, faculty appointments, and infrastructure development. JICA praised the institute's high standards and student involvement in competitions and exhibitions.

Further discussions included the institute's campus preparations, student services, and the finalization of regulations for new technological programmes. The dialogue also focused on enhancing academic and research cooperation, particularly through the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and expanding scholarships under the Egyptian-Japanese Education Partnership (EJEP) initiative.
