Cairo: General Authority for Healthcare and Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance System Ahmed EL Sobky announced a significant leap in kidney and urology treatment services across facilities operating under the comprehensive health insurance scheme.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Sobky affirmed that the authority has provided more than 3.25 million medical services in nephrology and urology. This achievement reflects the state's success in advancing the healthcare system and ensuring integrated medical care aligned with international standards.
Sobky explained that Ismailia ranked first with over 1.55 million services delivered, followed by Luxor with around 754,000 services, Port Said with 635,000, Aswan with 192,000, Suez with nearly 99,000, and South Sinai with about 29,000 services. This distribution highlights the wide reach and integration of healthcare services across various governorates.
Sobky added that these efforts included more than 1.9 million dialysis sessions for patients with kidney failure, along with 25,000 specialized urological surgeries, 30 kidney transplant operations, and over one million medical and laboratory examinations. The facilities also handled 55,000 emergency and critical care cases as part of a system ensuring rapid response and service.
He further noted that dialysis services are currently provided in 29 healthcare facilities, with fully digitized dialysis units ensuring regular sessions within each governorate. These services are supported by 1,047 dialysis machines, alongside advanced operating rooms equipped with capsule systems, shockwave and laser lithotripsy devices, minimally invasive endoscopic surgery technologies, intensive care units, and water treatment systems meeting quality and patient safety standards.
