Accra:Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayyeb expressed appreciation for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's remarks on Al-Azhar and his praise for the role of its scholars and their efforts spanning more than 1,000 years to promote moderate Islamic thought and support students of knowledge from countries around the world. The remarks came during a joint press conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Tayyeb also welcomed the Malaysian Prime Minister's remarks praising Al-Azhar's scholarly and religious outreach role, as well as joint efforts to strengthen cooperation in religious education and the Arabic language.

He stressed that this mutual appreciation reflects the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two countries and their peoples.
