Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed, in a phone call with Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos, regional developments and the latest developments concerning the crisis with Iran.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the phone call came as part of ongoing consultations between Egypt and the US on various regional issues and developments. During the call, the two sides also stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with the rules and provisions of international law.

The two officials also addressed ongoing efforts and contacts aimed at halting the escalation in Sudan. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of building on current efforts to end the conflict, creating an environment conducive to political solutions, and upholding dialogue and negotiation.

He reiterated Egypt's commitment to preserving Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as safeguarding its national institutions. The call also addressed the situation in Libya and ways to advance the political process and end the state of division in the country.

Abdelatty asserted that Egypt's efforts regarding the Libyan issue are based on the priority of preserving Libya's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while also supporting the unity of its national institutions. He stressed the importance of integrating regional and international efforts in support of the Libyan political track, in a manner that helps the Libyan parties reach a sustainable settlement that reflects their will and preserves the unity of the state and its institutions.
