FM: Egypt Rejects Any Infringement on Arab Countries’ Sovereignty

Cairo: A telephone call took place today, Saturday 7/3/2026, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and his Omani counterpart Mr. Badr Al-Busaidi. Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty and stability of Arab states and any justifications or pretexts used to legitimize such attacks.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the call addressed the latest developments in the regional landscape in light of the dangerous military escalation currently unfolding in the region. The two ministers exchanged views on ways to contain the situation and warned of the serious repercussions of the ongoing escalation and the threat it poses to regional peace and security.

Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of all parties exercising the utmost restraint, de-escalating tensions, prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and fully adhering to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The discussion also touched on the repercussions of the confrontations in the region and the direct threats they pose to Arab national security.

In this context, the two ministers discussed the attacks that targeted the Sultanate of Oman and a number of Gulf and sisterly Arab countries. Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman and its brothers in the Arab Gulf region, as well as with other friendly countries, rejecting any infringement on the sovereignty and stability of Arab states and any justifications or pretexts used to legitimize such attacks.

Several Gulf States were targeted by Iranian strikes in response to the United States and Israeli attacks that were launched from the region following the outbreak of confrontations on February 28, 2026. However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Saturday that Iran would no longer target neighboring Gulf countries, provided that attacks against Iran are not launched from their territories.
