Cairo: Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk announced that spending priorities in the state's general budget for the final quarter of the current fiscal year have shifted to reflect the need to address the repercussions of the current exceptional circumstances.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister emphasized that all state bodies are committed to rationalizing expenditures, focusing on essential spending, and ensuring the continuity of economic and productive activity. Kouchouk highlighted that priority is being given to securing food commodities, medicines, and the needs of the education sector, as well as meeting the requirements of the energy sector, including petroleum and electricity.
He assured that the government is dedicated to providing the necessary financial allocations to maintain the stability of basic services for citizens. The minister also indicated that work on energy-intensive projects has been slowed down or postponed due to the current circumstances. There is full coordination between the ministries of finance and planning and economic development to rationalize capital spending and refrain from launching new projects.
Furthermore, Kouchouk noted that spending on training, travel, events, and other deferrable items has been reduced to alleviate pressure on the state budget.
