Brussels: Egypt's ambassador to Belgium, the European Union (EU) Luxembourg, and NATO, Ahmed Abu Zeid, hosted a reception to celebrate Egypt's National Day at the embassy's official residence in Brussels. The event saw a significant presence of senior representatives from European institutions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, attendees included key figures from EU bodies such as the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Parliament, and the European Investment Bank. The President of the Brussels Parliament was also in attendance, alongside senior officials from the foreign ministries of Belgium and Luxembourg, and NATO officials. The gathering was further enriched by members of the Egyptian community in Belgium, business leaders, media representatives, and notable figures from Belgian society.
In his address, Ambassador Abu Zeid emphasized the importance of the July 23, 1952 Revolution, highlighting it as a pivotal moment in Egypt's modern history. He detailed the progress made in Egypt-EU relations since the initiation of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, noting significant achievements over the past year. These included the first Egypt-EU Summit in Brussels and the establishment of a roadmap for cooperation across various sectors.
The ambassador also spoke on the geopolitical challenges in the Middle East and Egypt's crucial role in fostering political and sustainable solutions to regional crises. He highlighted Egypt's contributions to peace and stability under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, making it a vital partner for Europe and the global community.
