Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty received Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Professor Amon Murwera. The meeting aimed at supporting and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and coordinating positions on issues of common interest.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, mentioned that Minister Badr Abdelatty praised the relations between Egypt and Zimbabwe, expressing anticipation for future meetings of the joint committee between the two nations.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized enhancing investment cooperation and increasing trade volume with Zimbabwe, highlighting the potential and opportunities available in both countries. He stressed the importance of aligning economic and trade cooperation with Zimbabwe's government action plan and proposed a business forum to promote investments in key sectors like construction, infrastructure, electricity, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and agricultural processing.
Minister Abdelatty highlighted the experience of Egyptian companies in African development projects, which could broaden cooperation in crucial sectors. He reiterated Egypt's readiness to support training and capacity-building programs for Zimbabwean personnel through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding.
The meeting concluded with both ministers exchanging views on establishing stability, security, peace, and development in Africa. They agreed on the necessity of ongoing coordination and consultation within bilateral and multilateral frameworks to achieve the common interests of their countries and peoples.
