Egypt, Sudan Sign Agreement to Combat Malaria


Cairo: Egypt and Sudan have signed a significant cooperation protocol to combat the Anopheles gambiae mosquito, known for being the primary carrier of Malaria. The agreement focuses on collaborative efforts in surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, and the exchange of expertise between the two nations.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement aims to enhance monitoring systems and coordinate efforts to limit the spread of Malaria. Key components of the protocol include field surveillance, mosquito control initiatives, regular blood testing and treatment, use of approved insecticides, and monitoring resistance to treatments.



The protocol also emphasizes data exchange, technical cooperation, and training of medical teams in both Egypt and Sudan. This strategic collaboration is expected to bolster the capabilities of both countries in their fight against Malaria.
