Dakar: Egypt marked a significant presence at the 33rd FIDAK Dakar International Trade Fair, which commenced on December 9, 2025, in Senegal. This renowned trade fair is celebrated for its focus on direct sales to the public, offering a unique public-to-public (B2C) approach.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian pavilion featured an impressive participation of 20 companies under the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences. The pavilion, located in the premium Green Hall, spanned an area of 240 square meters. This year, for the first time, eight companies participated through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), highlighting Egypt's dedication to supporting small businesses and expanding their reach in African markets.
The diverse sectors represented by the Egyptian companies included furniture, detergents, ready-made garments, leather goods, cookware, aluminum products, carpets, home furnishings, handicrafts, food products, essential oils, and chemicals. The quality and competitive pricing of these products were well received by visitors, indicating a promising potential for increased Egyptian exports to Senegal.
The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) Office in Dakar played a crucial role by providing comprehensive technical and logistical support to ensure the success of Egypt's participation. Mr. Tamer Karim, Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of the ECS Office in Dakar, attended the opening ceremony alongside Dr. Serigne Gu¨ye Diop, Senegalese Minister of Industry and Trade, and inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion with Ambassador Khaled Aref and other key representatives.
The event attracted participation from 30 countries, with 380 direct exhibitors, and is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors by the time it concludes on December 31st. The trade volume between Egypt and Senegal in 2024 was approximately $103 million, with Egyptian exports to Senegal dominating at $101.4 million. In the first nine months of 2025, Egyptian exports to Senegal amounted to about $93 million, showing growth compared to the previous year.
