Cairo: Egypt and the United States are set to enhance their industrial cooperation, particularly in the realms of technology and renewable energy. Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem has confirmed the robust bilateral relations that Egypt and the US share, underscored by a long-standing history of strategic cooperation across various sectors.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Hashem recently met with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Cairo, led by Omar Mohanna. During this extensive meeting, the minister reiterated the Egyptian government's dedication to deepening trade frameworks, emphasizing priority goods and products as focal points. This meeting is a precursor to AmCham's periodic "DoorKnock" mission to Washington, which is designed to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.Minister Hashem highlighted the importance of reconsidering the temporary anti-dumping duties imposed on Egyptian rebar exports to the US. He believes that reassessing thes e duties is crucial for improving the competitiveness of Egyptian industrial exports and fostering a balanced trade relationship.The minister pointed out that Egypt offers promising investment opportunities for American companies, especially in high-tech infrastructure projects like data center construction and AI-driven industries, as well as renewable energy projects in Egypt's growing industrial zones. Domestically, the Egyptian government is committed to partnering with the private sector as a key player in industrial development.Minister Hashem revealed that the ministry is reviewing the National Strategy for Industrial Development to align it with evolving regional and global economic trends. The strategy aims to enhance Egypt's position on the global industrial map by focusing on several strategic industries. Additionally, the ministry is promoting the "Productive Villages" initiative, which supports small enterprises with financing and technical training to integrate them into larger supply chain s.Looking toward the future, Hashem announced plans to launch a new financing mechanism through industrial investment funds, enabling citizen participation. These funds are intended to channel capital into high-potential industrial projects, with the first fund set to debut in the fourth quarter of this year.In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a new Technology Park is being developed to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and industrial application. This initiative, along with the ongoing efforts of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), aims to offer the necessary technical and technological support to modernize Egypt's manufacturing base.
