Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health to enhance cooperation in tackling shared health challenges, as reported by the Egyptian Cabinet.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement was signed during Abdel Ghaffar's visit to Saudi Arabia on May 3-4, 2025. It aims to foster joint efforts in various fields such as public health programmes, epidemic control, therapeutic services, telemedicine, health insurance, and digital health technologies.
The MoU also includes collaborative measures in health facility accreditation, patient safety, healthcare investment, disaster management, and international health coordination. Both nations have agreed to share expertise in pharmaceutical care, including clinical pharmacy, drug safety, antimicrobial surveillance, and virtual pharmacy services.
The agreement further outlines provisions for knowledge exchange, expert visits, and joint conferences. A joint task force will be established to oversee the implementation of the MoU and develop an executive plan, with additional technical committees to be formed as necessary.
