Egypt and Saudi Arabia Reaffirm Strong Ties and Commitment to Regional Stability

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud have reiterated the strength of the ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the mutual desire to further develop existing areas of cooperation. They aim to build on the positive momentum in their bilateral relations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this affirmation came during a phone call as part of ongoing consultation and coordination efforts between the two nations. The discussion covered bilateral relations and involved an exchange of views on regional developments, with both sides highlighting the importance of de-escalation and containing tensions in the region.

In relation to Gaza, both ministers underscored the importance of implementing Phase Two of President Donald Trump's plan, lending support to the National Committee for Gaza, and quickly deploying an international stability force. This force would be tasked with monitoring the ceasefire and ensuring full access to humanitarian aid.

The conversation also touched on preparations for the inaugural 'Board of Peace' meeting in Washington, highlighting the significance of Arab and Islamic coordination. On the topic of Sudan, the ministers emphasized the need to step up efforts to secure a humanitarian truce, paving the way for a comprehensive ceasefire and a Sudanese-led political process, while maintaining the unity and integrity of Sudan's institutions.

Additionally, the discussion covered Red Sea security, stressing the importance of coordination among coastal states to ensure freedom of navigation. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's stance that governance of the Red Sea should be restricted to its bordering countries, rejecting any external involvement in its management, to uphold regional stability.
