Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein expressed pride in the historic relations between Egypt and Iraq during a telephone call. The conversation marked a continuation of ongoing consultations aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional issues of mutual interest.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the foreign ministry spokesperson, Tamim Khallaf, stated that the ministers emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation in economic, investment, and development sectors. They explored opportunities to increase Egyptian companies' participation in Iraq's development projects, aligning with the interests of both nations.
The call also covered developments in the Gaza Strip, with Minister Abdelatty outlining Egypt's efforts to reinforce the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Agreement. He highlighted the significance of implementing the agreement's provisions to ensure a lasting ceasefire, improve humanitarian conditions, and facilitate reconstruction efforts.
The ministers exchanged views on current regional developments and underscored the necessity of continued dialogue between Cairo and Baghdad. They reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that foster security and stability in the region and enhance joint Arab cooperation.
