Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in talks with European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa Annette Weber, focusing on developments in the Horn of Africa region and efforts to enhance security, stability, and development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Sudan's security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He highlighted the importance of neighboring countries respecting Sudan's sovereignty and security by refraining from interfering in its internal affairs. Abdelatty emphasized the need to halt all forms of escalation, prioritize Sudan's national interests, and actively engage in a Sudanese-led process towards a comprehensive political settlement that preserves Sudan's sovereignty and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and development.
The discussions also covered broader developments in the Horn of Africa region. Abdelatty underscored the significance of maintaining the region's security and stability, supporting national institutions, and preserving the unity and territorial integrity of states. He reiterated Egypt's stance against any policies or measures that could undermine Somalia's sovereignty or regional stability, as well as any attempts to establish parallel entities that contradict Somalia's unity and territorial integrity.
