Doha: Palestinian analysts and experts agree that the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, scheduled for Monday in Doha, is a pivotal opportunity to coordinate a unified Arab and Islamic response to recent Israeli actions. The summit aims to address violations of international law and state sovereignty, exemplified by the recent Israeli attacks on residential areas housing Hamas leaders in Doha.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the summit is expected to formulate a collective position to counter Israeli encroachments on Arab sovereignty and work towards a resolution, supported by Arab, international, and UN efforts, to halt the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip. This includes addressing the Judaization, annexation, and confiscation projects underway in the West Bank.
Dr. Samir Abu Madallala, a political analyst and academic at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, emphasized the need for Arab and Islamic nations to support Qatar and its right to defend its sovereignty. He urged these countries to reassess their relationships with Israel, highlighting its expansionist ambitions that threaten Arab interests. Abu Madallala also underscored the essential roles of Qatar and Egypt in mediating between Palestinian resistance and Israel, pointing out that recent Israeli actions have undermined these efforts.
Meanwhile, political analyst Mohammed Abu Qamar anticipates that the summit will witness decisive discussions on mechanisms for a collective response to Israeli aggression. He noted that the summit's timing is crucial, coinciding with recent Israeli threats to regional stability, including attacks across Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and even Qatar.
Abu Qamar acknowledged Qatar's diplomatic efforts, which previously resulted in ceasefire agreements, and criticized recent Israeli actions that undermined these achievements. He called for the summit to take a decisive stance against Israeli aggression and to initiate steps to halt regional hostilities and settlement expansions.
Political researcher Ahmed Abu Zuhri highlighted the significance of Doha as the summit's location, given its recent experience of Israeli aggression. He noted that high-level representation from Gulf, Arab, and Islamic countries sends a strong message that Israeli actions against a Gulf state are a threat to the entire region. Abu Zuhri emphasized that the Gaza issue and ending the ongoing war will be central to the summit's agenda.
