Citrus, Potatoes Lead National Farm Exports

Cairo: Egypt's agricultural exports have seen a significant increase, reaching a total of seven million tonnes between January and early September. This marks an increase of 650,000 tonnes from the previous year.

According to State Information Service Egypt, exports of fresh potatoes and citrus reached 1.3 million tonnes and 1.9 million tonnes, respectively, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture. Grape exports rose to 180,000 tonnes. Exports of onions and beans rose to 250,000 tonnes and 222,000 tonnes, respectively.

Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk attributed this success to the agricultural sector's ability to compete on the global stage. He noted that these figures reflect the government's commitment to developing the sector and its competitiveness by focusing on opening new markets and enforcing strict quality standards.

The minister credited the hard work of farmers, producers, exporters, and various regulatory bodies for the achievement. He also emphasized that continued support for agricultural production and exports is vital for strengthening the national economy and ensuring food security.
