Rafah: The 162nd convoy of humanitarian aid trucks began entering the Gaza Strip via the Rafah terminal, heading toward the crossings of Karam Abu Salem, in preparation for delivery into the enclave on Monday, March 23, 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the trucks are part of the 'Zad al Izza from Egypt to Gaza' convoy, carrying substantial quantities of humanitarian and relief supplies. These include essential food aid, basic food baskets, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned goods, medicines, personal care items, tents, and fuel.
The source noted that before entering the enclave, the trucks undergo inspection by Israeli authorities. Previously, Israeli forces closed all crossings connected to Gaza on March 2, 2025, after the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement failed to secure an extension. The truce was breached with intense airstrikes on March 18, 2025, followed by renewed ground incursions into several areas of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli authorities had also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced persons and refused the entry of heavy machinery necessary for rubble removal and reconstruction. Aid deliveries resumed in May 2025 under a mechanism implemented by Israeli authorities in coordination with a US security company, despite objections from the UNRWA, which argued that the mechanism violated established international humanitarian frameworks.
