Cairo: As part of his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Vo Van Thong, and his accompanying delegation visited the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the President was welcomed at the Grand Egyptian Museum by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, the Executive Director of the Museum Authority. Dr. Ghoneim guided the President and his delegation on a tour that included the main hall, the Grand Staircase, and the main galleries. They received a detailed explanation about the history of the museum and its unique collections, most notably the complete collection of the golden king Tutankhamun. This collection will be fully displayed and inaugurated with the official opening of the museum on the first of November.
The President of Vietnam expressed his admiration for the architectural design of the museum and the archaeological treasures it houses. In a gesture of cultural exchange, he gifted the museum a replica of the Vietnamese bronze drum "Ngoc Lu," which is a significant cultural symbol in Vietnam. The Executive Director of the museum expressed his gratitude for this gift.
The visit also included a tour of the Giza Pyramids, starting with the Great Pyramid of King Khufu, the only remaining wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. They were greeted by Mr. Ashraf Mohi El-Din, General Director of Giza Antiquities, who provided a detailed explanation of the history of the pyramids and the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians in their construction.
The tour continued with a visit to the Sphinx, where the delegation learned about its history and the Dream Stele. They took commemorative photos before heading to the Panorama area to view the pyramids of King Khafre, King Menkaure, and the Queens' Pyramids.
