Tourism Minister Engages Anex Group and Wizz Air to Boost Egyptian Market Operations

Cairo: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy recently engaged in discussions with Fazil zmen, the Regional Director of Operations at Anex Group, and Ian Molin, Chief Commercial Officer at Wizz Air, to explore strategies for expanding the companies' activities in the Egyptian market. The goal is to attract more tourists to Egypt, especially given the current increase in demand from international markets.

According to State Information Service Egypt, senior delegations from Anex Group and Wizz Air, as well as Dr. Ahmed Nabil, Assistant Minister for Aviation and Follow-up Affairs, attended the meeting. The discussions are part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance inbound tourism and collaborate with prominent global companies in the tourism and aviation sectors.

During the meeting with Anex Group, the focus was on reviewing the company's operations in Egypt. Anex Group officials highlighted their tourism programs, which draw visitors from 12 source markets, with significant interest from Russia, China, and Kazakhstan. The company plans to increase tourist arrivals in Egypt from 6,000 to 8,000 per month and expand operations in Marsa Alam due to rising demand. Additionally, Anex Group expressed interest in hotel investments, including constructing new hotels and developing existing properties in key Egyptian destinations.

Wizz Air officials, during their meeting, outlined their current activities and future expansion plans in the Egyptian market. They aim to facilitate around two million tourist arrivals in Egypt by 2031, noting a 5% growth in the winter 2026 season, which indicates increasing demand.

Minister Fathy welcomed the proposals from both companies, highlighting the growing international interest in Egyptian tourism. He emphasized the Ministry's strategy to improve air connectivity and attraction of international investments in the hotel sector, focusing on developing destinations like Marsa Alam to accommodate anticipated growth in tourist numbers.
