PM Witnesses Launch of ‘Encyclopedia of Egyptian Ministries Since 1922’

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly witnessed on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the launch of the latest publication by the Strategic Documentation Center, the documentation arm of the Information and Decision Support Center at the Cabinet: The launch took place on the sidelines of his participation in the event marking the launch of the "Foreign Trade Information Portal" at the headquarters of the IDSC in the New Capital.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the new publication, titled "Encyclopedia of Egyptian Ministries Since 1922," is considered the largest comprehensive documentary and visual record of the history of modern Egyptian governments. It documents the evolution of ministerial formations and the structure of the Egyptian state over more than a century. The encyclopedia includes a comprehensive and accurate database published for the first time on this scale.

The total number of documented decrees related to ministerial formations reached 318 decrees, covering 97 ministerial formations and 193 ministerial amendments. The total number of documented ministerial portfolios reached 2,932 portfolios, making it a unique national reference for the history of Egyptian government administration and institutional development. The work, throughout all its stages, relied on official sources, foremost among them the "Egyptian Gazette," the "Official Gazette," the National Archives, and other accredited sources, ensuring the accuracy and chronological consistency of the data.

The encyclopedia also underwent scientific review by a number of history professors and academic experts, enhancing its scholarly value and establishing it as a reliable reference for researchers and those interested in public affairs. Assistant to the Prime Minister and IDSC Head Osama El-Gohary stated that the launch of the "Encyclopedia of Egyptian Ministries Since 1922" represents an exceptional knowledge addition to the center's history. He noted that the encyclopedia goes beyond the traditional concept of reference documentation by providing comprehensive records of Egyptian ministerial formations within an organized timeline that reflects the development of the Egyptian state and the course of government work across different historical periods.

Gohary pointed out that the encyclopedia is not limited to documenting the names of governments and ministers, but provides an integrated institutional record of the development of Egypt's administrative system. It contributes to making knowledge accessible, raising awareness of the history of Egyptian government administration and supporting researchers, policymakers, and those interested in public affairs.

Prime Minister Madbouly praised the efforts made in preparing this documentary work in a manner befitting the history of the Egyptian state and its longstanding institutions. He stressed that protecting the national memory and preserving its administrative archives represent a fundamental pillar for ensuring continuity between generations and drawing on accumulated experience over time. The prime minister also praised the role played by the IDSC and its research and documentation efforts that contribute to supporting decision-makers and preserving national memory. He stressed the importance of continuing such knowledge-based initiatives that reinforce awareness of the history of state institutions and maximize the benefit of accumulated expertise over decades.
