Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the importance of logistics and transport projects that link Egypt with African countries to support trade, tourism, and investment flows. This initiative is part of Egypt's continuous coordination with partners across the continent.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly highlighted the need to expand EgyptAir's network within Africa and strengthen maritime transport links to bolster economic integration with African states. This was discussed in a meeting on May 19, 2026, attended by key officials including Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, and Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Mohamed Abu Bakr.
Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El Hefny presented the operational plan for new air routes connecting Egypt with numerous African capitals and cities. The plan aims to enhance direct air connectivity, support trade and tourism, and improve air cargo and logistics services across the continent.
Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir reiterated that building ties with African countries is a priority for Egypt. This will be achieved by developing transport networks to facilitate intra-African trade, improve maritime and land connectivity, and ease the movement of goods and people.
Investment Minister Mohamed Farid stated that Egypt is committed to enhancing trade exchange with African countries. His ministry supports the initiatives led by the transport and civil aviation ministries and plans to meet with investors to advance these projects.
Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamed Abu Bakr emphasized the importance of the proposals discussed, noting Egypt's growing interest in enhancing communication and connectivity with African nations to support continental integration and development.
Meeting participants agreed to establish a joint working group, chaired by the investment minister, to develop mechanisms for strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and African countries. The group will focus on increasing trade exchange, facilitating exports and imports, and improving logistics and transport services to open new markets for Egyptian products and enhance economic integration across Africa.
