PM Praises Cabinet Medical Committee’s Efforts in Launching Medical Convoys

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly praised the efforts of the Cabinet's Supreme Medical Committee and Relief in launching medical convoys across various governorates in order to offer comprehensive treatment services with the aim of alleviating the burden on citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly also commended the fruitful cooperation with civil society organizations, especially the Egyptian Cure Bank Foundation, as part of the state's efforts to improve healthcare services. He reviewed a report on the outcomes of a comprehensive medical convoy organized by the Supreme Medical Committee and Relief in cooperation with the Egyptian Cure Bank Foundation in the city of Kafr Shukr in Qalubiya governorate, held on June 24-25.

The convoy is part of ongoing efforts to provide free medical services to citizens in the most underserved villages and areas. According to Naglaa Abdel Moneim, Head of the Supreme Medical Committee and Relief, the convoy comprised multiple medical specialties, including ophthalmology, providing free examinations, treatment, necessary medical tests, as well as dispensing medicines and eyeglasses. Cases requiring surgical intervention or specialized care were referred to the university and government hospitals to complete treatment.

She noted that the convoy examined 1,627 citizens, including 532 ophthalmology cases, and provided 360 medical glasses, while 76 cases were identified for free eye surgeries. A total of 1,095 patients were examined in other specialties, and 33 cases were referred to university and government hospitals for further treatment.

Abdel Moneim added that medical convoys are a key pillar of the committee's work, given their direct role in providing free healthcare in underserved areas. She confirmed that more specialized medical convoys will continue to be carried out in Qalubiya governorate in the coming period, in coordination with the governorate's executive authorities.

The governor also expressed appreciation for the committee's role in responding to citizens' medical needs across governorates and commended its efforts in reaching vulnerable groups. She emphasized that these convoys are part of ongoing cooperation with civil society organizations and health directorates, aimed at delivering quality healthcare services to citizens in their places of residence.

She also praised the Egyptian Cure Bank Foundation for its active role in supporting and implementing the convoy, describing the partnership as a successful model of cooperation between state institutions and civil society in delivering free medical care to those most in need.
