Turkish Foreign Minister Engages in High-Level Talks in Egypt

El-alamein: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy in El-Alamein, Egypt, as part of a two-day diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening regional ties and cooperation. The meeting, confirmed by Turkish diplomatic sources, marks a significant step in fostering dialogue between Turkey and the Arab League.

According to TRTworld.com, Fidan also held discussions with Major General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, director of Egypt's General Intelligence Service. This visit includes scheduled meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and senior Egyptian officials. The focus will be on enhancing bilateral relations, reviewing ongoing agreements, and encouraging investment to boost bilateral trade to a target of $15 billion.

Fidan's agenda encompasses cooperation in energy sectors, military and defense industries, and emphasizes resolving regional issues through dialogue. The Turkish foreign minister will reiterate Turkey's commitment to joint efforts in regional stability, including the R4 initiative, which comprises Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.

The visit also involves the second meeting of the Trkiye-Egypt Joint Planning Group, co-chaired by Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. This meeting aims to assess previous strategic cooperation outcomes and prepare for future engagements.

Key regional issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, Gaza, Syria, Libya, and the Eastern Mediterranean are also on Fidan's agenda. He will advocate for diplomatic resolutions, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, cessation of attacks in Gaza, and the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan's second phase. The discussions will also cover maintaining stability in Libya and supporting Sudan's territorial integrity.

Fidan will conclude his visit by discussing the roles of Turkey and Egypt in promoting peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and shared responsibility.
